In Malaga and the Costa del Sol, one of the most common plastic surgery procedures is the rhinoplasty (nose surgery). Rhinoplasty can change the shape of the nose, reduce or increase the size, creating a more pleasing appearance, or correct a deviated septum to help breathing conditions.
Rhinoplasty improves the shape of the tip, the bridge and also the nostrils and the angle of the nose for better balance and harmony with the other features of the face, and also improves nasal respiration (also known as a Septoplasty).
How a rhinoplasty is done?
Dr. Ruiz Ruiz prefers to do this operation under general anaesthetic (asleep) in a hospital. The nose surgery begins with incisions made at the base of the nose or inside the nostrils, where they will not be visible, then gaining access to the bone and cartilage which will be sculpted into the appropriate shape.
The procedure lasts one or two hours, depending on the complexity of the case, and the patient needs to be in hospital at least overnight.
After the rhinoplasty procedure, the patient will have dressings in each nostril for a day or two, and a plaster cast to maintain the new nose shape in it’s correct position. After one or two weeks, the plaster cast will be removed and in a short time you can return to your normal life.
Rhinoplasty procedures are highly specialized, so it is highly recommended that you select a plastic surgeon who has extensive training in this particular procedure, and it is also important to have realistic expectations about the results.
