Eyelid Surgery (blepharoplasty) is a cosmetic surgery to correct the upper or lower eyelids by removing excess eyelid skin, muscle or fat.
Eyelid surgery rejuvenates and improves the appearance of tiredness making you look rested and alert. Bags under the eyes, excess fat deposits or sagging skin make people look older than their true age and can be corrected with eyelid surgery.
How a eyelid surgery is done?
Dr. Ruiz Ruiz performs blepharoplasty under general or local anesthetic and mild sedation. Both options are very comfortable and she will recommend the best choice for you. This cosmetic procedure lasts one or two hours and can be combined with other surgical procedures as facelifts.
The eyelid surgery procedure begins with fine incisions following the natural lines of your eyelids, to remove the appropriate excess of fat and skin and sagging muscle. Afterwards the incisions are closed with very small sutures, an ophthalmic cream, and dressings with saline solution may be applied.
After eyelid surgery
After the blepharoplasty, the majority of patients return to their normal lives within 10-12 days, and the scars become almost invisible in a few months.
This cosmetic surgery is very satisfactory because the patient appears more rested, alert, fresh and rejuvenated.
